Karnataka PGCET 2012 Notification

The Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test -2012 (PGCET -2012) is being conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility/merit, for admission of Karnataka and Non-Karnataka candidates to the First year or First semester of

  •  MBA Full Time and Part Time courses
  • MCA Full Time
  • M.E /M.Tech/M.Arch/MBA (Infrastructure M.Tech) Full Time and Part Time courses

In Government/University/Private Aided/Private Un-Aided professional educational institutions in the state of Karnataka for the academic year 2012-13. Admissions to the Government seats shall be made in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to

  • Masters of Business Administration
  • Masters of Computer Application, Courses
  • Master of Engineering (M.E.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech) Courses

Rules. 2005 (in short “Rules”) as amended from time to time and therefore the details and instructions contained in this E-Application are subject to the said Rules. In case of discrepancy, the Rules shall prevail. In order to obtain admission to

Through Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), a candidate must appear for the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test, which will be conducted by the KEA. The Post Graduate Common Entrance Test -2012, will be conducted in specified places, spread over Karnataka.

The details of the Entrance Test (Date /Time and Venue) will as per the Admit Card downloaded by the candidate. The Exam dates for PGCET – 2012 is 28 th July 2012 (Saturday) and 29 th July 2012 (Sunday)

Based on the performance of the candidates in the PGCET -2012 the merit/rank list will be prepared and published.

 Candidates with valid GATE score are given first preference for admission to all M.E/M.Tech/M.Arch/ MBA (infrastructure Mgmt) courses. Such candidates need not appear for PGCET-2012. However they are required to apply for admission by filling in the Online Application. When GATE qualified candidates are not available then seat allotment will be made to non-GATE candidates based on the merit list of PGCET-2012. Candidates have to make sure that they have valid qualifying marks in GATE in their respective subjects under the category to which they belong ( GM/OBC/SC/ST/PD). If they do not have the qualifying marks, they have to appear for PGCET-2012 .

Based on the performance of the candidate in the PGCET-2012, the rank list will be prepared  and published for admission to M.E/M.Tech/M.Arch/ MBA (infrastructure Mgmt) courses in case of Non-GATE candidates.All eligible candidates who have the requisite percentage of marks as the case may be will be allowed to participate during the seat selection process in order of their merit/rank for selecting the available seats, as per the time schedule which will be notified later.

Eligibility Criteria

  • a) Eligibility for Full Time MBA coursesA candidate who has passed any  under graduate examination or equivalent examination of minimum three years and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages of all the years is eligible for admission to MBA courses. 45% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages of all the years in case of SC,ST and Category – I candidates.
  • b) Eligibility for Part Time MBA coursesA candidate who has passed any under graduate examination or equivalent examination of minimum three years and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages of all the years is eligible for admission to MBA courses. 45% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages of all the years in case of SC, ST and Category – I candidates. In addition to this the candidate after obtaining the degree, must have worked for not less than three years before 07/06/2012, in an establishment and must be working in an organization situated within a radial distance of 40km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission.
  • c) Eligibility for MCA courses: A candidate who has passed any under graduate examination or equivalent examination with Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Applications or Business Statistics as one of the optional subjects and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years is eligible for admission to MBA courses. 45% marks taken together in all the subjects including languages of all the years in case of SC, ST and Category – I candidates.Provided that in respect of candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified above in Pre-University Course with 50% marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission. 45% marks in Qualifying examination in case of SC,ST, and Category – I candidates. In addition to the above a candidate who is appearing for the Qualifying Examination and expecting the results is eligible to apply for Post Graduate Common Entrance Test – 2012.
  • d) Eligibility for M.E/M.Tech/M.Arch/MBA (Infrastructure Management) Courses – Full Time. A candidate with a valid GATE score, A candidate who has passed the prescribed qualifying examination or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of
  • i. 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years/semesters of the Degree Examination
  • ii. 45% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years/semesters of the Degree Examination in case of SC, ST and Category – I candidates.
  • e) Eligibility for M.E/M.Tech/M.Arch/MBA (Infrastructure Management) Courses Part Time A candidate who has passed the prescribed qualifying examination or equivalent examination and obtained an aggregate minimum of
  • i. 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years/semesters of the Degree Examination
  • ii. 45% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years/semesters of the Degree Examination in case of SC, ST and Category – I candidates.

In addition to the above after obtaining the complete degree, the candidate must have worked for not less than three years before 07/06/2012, in an establishment and must be working in an organization situated within a radial distance of 40km from the institution in which the candidate seeks admission. However, the employer has to fill up the NOC duly signed by the competent
authority.

Fee Payment and Challan

  1. Please download your uniquely generated bank challan.
  2. After downloading your uniquely generated bank challan, the candidate can pay the fees at all branches of “State Bank of Mysore” and designated branches of “State Bank of Hyderabad” To view list of banks accepting payments, click here (a) SBM Branches  (b) SBH Branches
  3. Using the PGCET ID and Password received by you on E-mail you can View your partially submitted application,     Edit your application information (except some fields),     Download your uniquely generated bank challan  Upload the mandatory documents like scanned photograph, signature, paid fee bank acknowledged challan and     Print for the final submission of your application.

How to Apply

Candidates applying for PGCET 2012 should apply only through the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) website:  http://kea.kar.nic.in/.

Before the final submission of the Online Application, the candidates should have scanned image of their

  • (a) Recent Photograph
  • (b) Signature
  • (c) Fee Paid Bank Acknowledged Challan, and
  •  (d) Left Hand Thumb Fingerprint, in a CD/DVD/Pen drive as per their convenience. These documents will be required for uploading and the final submission of your Online Application.

A valid E-mail and Mobile Number is mandatory for the submission of your Online Application. This EMail should be kept active till the declaration of results. KEA will send important information with regard to your application and examination on this registered E-Mail/Mobile Number .

Please note that after the final submission all the particulars mentioned in the online application including Name of the Candidate, Course Applied, Category, Date of Birth, Addres,Email ID, Choice of City for Examination etc. will be considered as Final and NO further modifications will be allowed by the system nor entertained by the KEA office. After receiving your PGCET ID and Password on mail you will not be able to edit certain fields of the Online Application. Candidates are hence requested to fill in the online application form with the utmost care as no correspondence regarding change of details will be entertained.

  • Step 1 Candidate are first required to go to the KEA website http://kea.kar.nic.in/ and click on the link “Submission of Online Application for PGCET – 2012”
  • Step 2 You will be directed to “PGCET 2012 – Main Page”. Make a note of the Important Dates.
  • Step 3 Click on “Apply Online” and fill your (a) Personal Details (b) Course Details (c) Qualification Details, and (d) Declarations. The Notes, Instructions and Important Links on each page will guide you to fill the application accurately. Please read them carefully.
  • Step 4 On successful submission of the above details listed in Step 3, you will receive your PGCET ID and Password through an automated E-Mail on your registered e-mail address. With this PGCET ID and Password you can  View your partially submitted application,  Edit your application information (except some fields), Download your uniquely generated bank challan for paying the exam fees Upload the mandatory documents like (a) Scanned Photograph, (b) Signature, (c) Fee paid Details with Bank acknowledged challan, and Print for the FINAL submission of your application.

Note :

  1. Receiving of your PGCET ID and Password does not complete the Application Filling Process.
  2. Subsequent to receiving your PGCET ID and Password, you will not be able to edit your Name, Course Selected ,Category, Email and Mobile Number. In Case you need to change these fields then you will have repeat Step 1 to 3 and obtain a new PGCET ID and Password. 

  • Step 5 On the “PGCET 2012 – Home Page ” and using the PGCET ID and Password which you received on your E-Mail , Click on “Fees and Challan Download” . Download and Print your uniquely generated Bank.] Challan (pdf file) which will be printed with your Name, Challan Reference Number and Amount . This Bank challan will be in triplicate copies marked as “Bank Copy”, “KEA Copy” and “Candidate Copy”

Note :Your Bank Challan is a uniquely generated document which is pre-filled with your Name, Challan Reference Number and the Fees payable . Please do not use any other challan like using your friends challan and/or photocopying any other candidates challan and/or using the challans available at the banks, etc. to pay your fees. KEA will not entertain your request for reconciliation in this regard.

  • Step 6 Pay the relevant fees in cash at All Branches of SBM and designated branches of SBH. The detailed addresses of the banks which will accept the payments has been listed in the Note. The Bank will retain the “Bank Copy” and will give you back the acknowledged copies of “KEA Copy” and “Candidate Copy”. Please safe keep the “KEA Copy” as this will be required to be presented to KEA during counseling/seat selection. The Bank will also mention the Bank Branch Code and the Jounal Number on the “KEACopy” and “Candidate Copy”. From the bank where you made the payment please make a note of the (a) Journal Number, (b) Date of Payment and (c) Bank Branch Code as you will require to upload this information in your Online Application for the Final Submission.
  • Step 7 On the PGCET 2012 – Main Page and using the PGCET ID and Password which you received on your EMail, click on “Upload Documents for Final Submission” . Upload the scanned image of your (a) Photograph (b) Signature (c) Paid Bank Challan (Candidate Copy) and (d) Left Hand Thumb Fingerprint,from your CD/DVD/Pen drive as stored per your convenience.

Note:
This is also one last chance for you to edit the information in your application except you will not be able to edit your Name, Course Selected, Reserved Category, Email and Mobile Number.

  • Step 8 Finally submit your application and receive the “Application Successfully Submitted” message. You can now only “View” and/or “Print” your submitted Online Application.
  • Step 9 On the “PGCET -2012 – Main Page” and using the PGCET ID and Password which you received on your E-Mail, check on your submitted application for all the fields filled and documents loaded by you. Click on “Application Print” . Keep a copy of the submitted application for your reference and safe keep. You will need to carry this copy during counseling.
