Group discussion is the process that comes on the interview process of the any job. Now-a-days group discussion is used along with the personal interviews for the selection of the candidates. A group discussion is simply a method instrumental in judging the team spirit, leadership qualities and other managerial qualities. Rightly speaking group discussion is more a technique than a conventional test. It is the most important and popular technique used in the personality tests. Group discussion is a informal discussion in which participants of the same educational standard discuss a topic of current interest.
Tips that are followed to succeed in the group discussion are:
Be alert always: A participant usually gets around 15 minutes to think about the topic. So the candidate should think fast and cover as much as he can.
Make sure to read widely: The candidate should prepare widely and perfectly due to the last preparation for the GD is not as secure as it as matter of time. Reading not only adds knowledge but also enhances the vocabulary skills.
Never be rigid in GD: Always keep in mind that the other person is also learned as all. Always listen to the others and then respond to it.
Work on the communication skills: The candidate should have a good vocabulary skills and communication skills such that the communication in the group discussions makes easy for the person. With the communication skills the person can become a better speaker by the time.
Be the first and last to speak: Initiating a GD is a better advantage and closing the GD is also adds brownie points. If the group has not reached a conclusion we should conclude it to gain better marks.
Take care of dressing well: Don’t wear flashy clothes while going to GD. Female candidates also want to avoid heavy jewellery and cakey makeup.
An individual must keep in mind that GD is meant for bringing out the managerial skills of an individual. The organizer of the GD will never appreciate us if we shout in the group discussion. Be calm, compose and confident to create an impression in the discussion and win over others.
